FAQ and Policies

Thank you for supporting our small batch hatchery! Our goal is to provide healthy chicks, well-started chicks and a great experience for every customer. Please review the guidelines below before placing an order.

Availability  

• All sales are first-come, first-served based on current hatch availability.
• We do not take pre-orders for pullets or point-of-lay birds.

Chick Sales

• Priority is always given to day-old chick sales.
• Pullets or adults are only available If chicks do not sell out. Contact for availability.

Minimum Order

• Minimum order of 3 chicks to ensure proper socialization and warmth.
• Exceptions may be made if you already have chicks of similar age at home.

POL Sales

• We do not sell point-of-lay hens. 

Pick-Up Only

• Farm pick-up in Cowichan Valley, BC.
• No shipping or delivery available at this time.

Chick Guarantee

• We provide a 5-day live-chick guarantee.
• Replacement only, based on case-by-case review.
• We cannot guarantee sex with unsexed chicks, future health, behaviour, or production.

Payment

• Payment is required at pick-up unless otherwise arranged.
• All sales are final once chicks leave our care.
• Cash or etransfer

Your success matters to us! However, care conditions at home play the biggest role in chick health.

Chicks require a safe, clean, temperature-controlled brooder with:

• Poultry Heat lamp or brooder plate — must maintain proper warmth
• Clean, dry bedding (avoid slippery surfaces)
• Fresh water with electrolytes for the first few days
• High-quality chick starter feed

We’re here to help — but your research and preparation is essential.

We strongly encourage first-time chicken keepers to:

• Research breed needs, predator protection, coop sizing, and feed requirements
• Be prepared with a brooder setup before pick-up
• Connect with local vets or poultry support groups when needed

More to consider:

• Breed characteristics (colour, comb type, egg colour, size, temperament) are based on best genetic expectations but individual variation may occur.
• We reserve the right to refuse sales if we feel chicks will not be safely cared for.
• Please arrive on time for your arranged pick-up window to reduce stress on chicks.

We do not vaccinate our chicks 

We sometimes source chicks and hatching eggs from other farms. This allows us to have more variety than what we hatch at the farm.
